Welcome to
Russian Hill
If you appreciate breathtaking vistas, picturesque streets, and a sense of seclusion while still being conveniently located, Russian Hill, one of the original “seven hills” is the San Francisco ideal. Arguably one of the most cinematic neighborhoods in the city, its striking views, rich history, tourist attractions and stylish architecture demonstrates why it's beloved by tourists and residents alike. During the Gold Rush era, Russian Hill got its name from a small graveyard containing Russian graves found at the hill's summit. San Francisco was frequently visited by Russian naval and merchant ships from 1806, and crew members were buried in the Russian Hill cemetery in the first part of the century. Although the cemetery was eventually relocated, the name of the neighborhood remained the same.
