With modern technology at our fingertips, we don’t have to miss out on all of our favorite adventures. Take a look at a few
spots in Marin you can check out right now, via virtual tour!
Go to the Headlands
Using Street
View by Google Maps, you can safely navigate
through the Marin Headlands with just a click of your mouse or a swipe of
your finger. The Parks Conservancy helped map some of these trails in 2013, so
some images may be outdated, but it can still be a breathtaking experience
nonetheless. Walk along the Coastal Trail, “hike” Middle Green Gulch, and view
the dizzying heights above Rodeo Beach.
Feel the Wonder
If you’re
looking for an artsy experience, the Marin Art and Garden Center features
virtual tours of the exhibit Rooted in Wonder.
You get to join MAGC Events Manager Stacey Kamp as she walks you through The
Studio exploring this exhibit by Painter Frances McCormack and
interdisciplinary artist Miya Hannan.
Visit
a Castle
If you’d
like to take a look at a real-live castle in our backyard, drop by the San Francisco Theological
Seminary in San Anselmo. This walking virtual tour offers a glimpse into
the fascinating history and purpose of the campus, as well as amazing
360-degree views of the surrounding areas. Be sure to “drop by” Montgomery Tower
for an amazing bird’s eye view!
Bring Nature Home
You can
explore the wonders of Audobon Canyon Ranch via their Vimeo page. Created by Audubon Canyon Ranch staff and volunteers,
enjoy a look at caterpillars, bird nesting boxes, wildflowers, and other flora
and fauna in the conservancy.
Get Your (Contemporary) Art On
The Marin Museum
of Contemporary Art (Marin MOCA) is holding virtual tours of their ongoing
exhibitions while the museum remains temporarily closed. Check out their
current display, Art
Imitating Life at their website.
Drop by the Farm
While Point
Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company remains closed to the public, you can still
catch a peek at the goings on in the farm with their virtual
tours. And if you start craving for their delicious offerings, you can even
enjoy a Zoom tasting experience, where you order a cheese kit and attend a Zoom
class where a PRFC Representative will guide you through the cheeses to teach
you how to taste, talk about the various flavor profiles, plus give you food and
beverage pairing suggestions and tips on how to cook with and store your
orders.
